Situated approximately 28 Km from Hyderabad city, NALSAR University of Law was established under the Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998, and is a fully residential national university offering an integrated five-year law course. Undisputedly one of the best law schools in the country, the rigorous five- year B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) programme is a blend of the Socratic lecture method, seminar groups and individual tutorials. The University offers students a unique interdisciplinary learning experience where they are given both a thorough grounding in traditional legal subjects as well as the benefit of a background in the social sciences. A strong focus on academic excellence is strengthened by a drive towards diversifying the gamut of student activity. Students are expected to acquire 5040 compulsory credit hours with 360 hours of Clinical Training, 150 tests and examinations and are expected to have given 46 research papers and 3 dissertations, as well as 104 oral presentations. During their five year stay in NALSAR, students participate in a number of activities outside the classroom, such as national and international moot court competitions, debates and quizzes. In the past, several students have seen their writing published in leading international publications, and have also been involved in research projects for the Government of India, as well as various reputed Non Governmental Organisations such as

In addition to this, the University has been endowed with research centres including: the M.K. Nambyar SAARC Law Centre for Advanced Legal Studies, the N.C. Banerjee Centre for Intellectual Property Law Studies and the S.P. Chatterjee Centre for Environmental Law Studies. NALSAR also publishes an ever increasing number of peer reviewed legal journals, such as the NALSAR Student Law Review, the Indian Journal of Constitutional, Law and the Indian Journal of Intellectual Property Law, which have over the years garnered contributions from reputed legal thinkers, judges and lawyers the world over. With arguably the best law school campus in India today and one of the best in Asia, NALSAR is able to provide its students the best academic facilities in the country. The University library is a designated depository library of the United Nations and a 24 hour wireless internet connection gives students access to several of the best global databases including Westlaw, Hein Online, Manupatra, EBSCO, SCC Online, Grand Jurix etc. Over and above all this, the success that students of NALSAR have met with over the last ten years bears testimony to their caliber. After completing their training students who opt to obtain L.L.M’s have pursued them in the best international universities, including Oxford University, Harvard University, the London School of Economics, New York University and Columbia University to name a few.
